perspective

I often lie to make myself older. I am almost 30. And I want to be 30 right now this very minute.

I always feel young when I am at work, and old when I am at little league basketball practice. At work they marvel over my iPod, and at basketball practice they marvel that I can drive a car.

Last week Amy asked one of our basketball players why she'd stopped talking back to us this year. She said, "My mama told me not to dis' old women."

I think Amy was really offended.

Me? I just felt one step closer to living in a retirement community. It's a big dream of mine to get in when I'm 35.

i always tell people that i wish i were really old, and they never believe me.

jerks.

That is a really great dream. Because those retirement homes seem fun, fun, fun. But funner still if you can still hear, see and walk. so getting in at 35 is a really good goal

oh yeah....a little water aerobics in the mornings, lounging by the pool in the afternoon, bingo at 4:30, dinner at 5:30, Jeopardy at 7:00, Golf cart racing on the weekends....what's better than that?

Mmm, free pudding.

Sometimes I forget how old I am. Maybe I'm 70. You can come stay with me at my retirement home.

I'm perpetually wondering when I'm going to feel like a grown-up in all situations. Maybe never? That would be fine with me. : )

Think of it this way. If you are working on your dream and you are not yet 30, you have more time to make sure that you accomplish it by 35. Good luck!

I know a married couple who always say they want to move into a retirment home right now, so that someone else will make their food and provide them with low impact activities.

Seriously here? My 30th birthday was my absolute, hands-down favorite, because I finally felt like a card-carrying grown-up.

Would it help if I call you "Ma'am"?
